Remembering Nicaragua...

Oh, how I miss Nicaragua. This was the neatest experience I have ever had. I learned quite a lot and there are definitely things I will always remember. What you saw there made you realize so much about your own culture as you learned about the Nicas' culture. This here is a picture of myself, my friend Jill, and our host mom, Myra. She is one of the most kind hearted and hard working woman I know. I miss her greatly and I hope she is doing well. October starts the bike/hike event that connects Wisconsin and Nicaragua. More detail is listed below:

Who:       Anyone & Everyone (both as groups and/or individuals)

Where:    Anywhere you would like
(some will be organizing group rides or hikes – details will be posted on website)

When:     Throughout the whole month of October – (at YOUR convenience J )

How:        Bike or Hike  & record your miles

What:      Bike or Hike a portion of the combined mileage between WI & Nic
                 (2,350 Miles)
Why:       Raise awareness about Wis/Nic Partners
Raise funds for meaningful humanitarian projects
Be a part of something great

"During the month of October, individuals and community groups will keep track of the miles they bike or hike in their respective countries, and have the option to raise pledge dollars for distances traveled, according to Amy Wiza, Partners program director. For the fourth year in a row participants will complete their mileage anytime from October 1 through October 31. Communities and organizations in both Wisconsin and Nicaragua are organizing group walks and/or bike rides.
"This event is growing which is a testament to the peoples of both our nations," said Wiza. "Volunteers throughout Wisconsin and Nicaragua are yet again joining together to participate in raising awareness about international involvement at the local level and its benefits to both our peoples."
More information about W/NP is available online at"

My husband and I will be participating in this event! I am so excited! It's a great cause and it's beneficial for both me and others.

Until next time...
